1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Relay Voice Ltd (“Relay”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17410664), covering the Relay macOS application, the relay.tech websites, subscriptions, hardware, and related services (together, the “Service”). You accept these Terms by creating an account, making a purchase, or using the Service. Our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Shipping Policy are part of these Terms.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
2. Your account
You need a Relay account to use the Service. Provide accurate account information, keep it up to date, and keep your credentials secure — you are responsible for activity under your account. You may not sell, transfer, or share your account.
3. The Service and beta features
Relay provides voice-input software: you speak, and Relay turns your speech into text and actions in the apps you use. Relay is under active development and may include beta or preview features. Features, availability, supported integrations, and third-party AI providers may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. Keep copies of important content, and do not rely on Relay for emergency, safety-critical, or irreplaceable tasks.
4. Free plan
Relay offers a Free plan with a weekly usage allowance. We may change the allowance or included features for future usage periods; the current allowance is shown in your account.
5. Subscriptions and billing
Prices and billing terms are shown before checkout, and payment is processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period and your payment method is charged at the start of each period, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then. Paid periods that have already started are non-refundable except as described in our Refund Policy or required by law. If we change the price of your subscription, we will notify you in advance and the new price will apply from your next renewal. If a payment is refunded in full, reversed, or charged back, the subscription, license, or activation code it paid for ends or is revoked automatically. This section applies to recurring plans; the subscription included in a preorder package works differently (section 6).
6. Hardware orders and preorders
Some purchases include hardware, which may be sold as a preorder package together with a code redeemable for 12 months of Relay membership. The code does not expire and can be redeemed at any time; the 12 months run from redemption. The package membership is a one-time purchase and does not renew automatically: when it ends, you will not be charged again, and paid features stop unless you choose to start a regular subscription. When you place an order you are making an offer to purchase; the order is accepted when we confirm it and payment has been processed. We may decline or cancel an order — for example where hardware cannot be shipped to your address, where we suspect fraud or resale at scale, or where a listing contained an obvious pricing or description error — in which case you will be refunded in full.
Preorder shipping dates are estimates, not guarantees; see our Shipping Policy for the current timeline, supported countries, and what happens when estimates change. You can cancel the entire package for a full refund within 14 days of purchase; after that, you can cancel it any time before the hardware ships (a full refund if your code is unredeemed, otherwise less the membership time used since redemption, and never less than the hardware portion), or return the hardware within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the hardware portion. If we cannot deliver the hardware, we refund the hardware portion and your subscription continues. See our Refund Policy for details.
Title to hardware passes to you on delivery; if you are a consumer, risk of loss or damage also passes when you (or someone you designate) receive the goods. Because preorder hardware is still in production, its appearance and specifications may be refined before shipment — we will tell you before dispatch if anything changes materially. Relay hardware runs firmware that is licensed, not sold, to you as part of the Service; we may update it automatically to keep the device secure and working with the Service, and you may not modify or tamper with it except where the law permits.
7. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not use Relay to break the law, infringe or violate another person’s rights, harass or deceive others, or send spam; and you may not interfere with or disrupt the Service, bypass usage limits or security measures, attempt unauthorized access, resell the Service, or reverse engineer it except where the law permits. We may suspend or terminate access for violations (section 15).
Recording laws. Relay captures audio when you trigger it, and hardware accessories can make recording easier in more situations. Laws on recording conversations differ by place — many jurisdictions require the consent of everyone being recorded. You are responsible for using Relay’s recording features lawfully where you are, including obtaining any consent the law requires from the people around you.
8. Your content and AI output
You retain ownership of the content you submit — your speech, text, and on-screen context. You permit Relay and the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy to process that content solely as needed to provide the Service.
Relay’s output is generated by AI and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation. It is not professional advice. Relay can place text into your apps and send messages at your direction — you are responsible for reviewing output before relying on it, sending it, or sharing it, and for everything sent from your accounts using Relay.
9. Privacy
How we collect, use, and share personal data — including what happens to your audio and screen context — is described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including the Relay software, websites, brand, and design, is owned by Relay or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Relay software — including the firmware on Relay hardware — on devices you own or control, for as long as you have access to the Service under these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions, or other feedback about the Service, we may use it without restriction or obligation to you, including to improve the Service.
12. Third-party services
The Service works with third-party applications, AI providers, and websites that we do not control. We are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their terms, and linking to or integrating with them is not an endorsement. Your use of a third-party service is governed by that provider’s own terms.
13. Warranty disclaimer
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits the legal guarantees you are entitled to — including, for consumers in the EU and UK, statutory conformity guarantees for goods and digital services. If Relay hardware is defective, see our Refund Policy.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RELAY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. TO THE SAME EXTENT, RELAY’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
15. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for material violation of these Terms, security risks, suspected fraud or abuse, non-payment, or where required by law; where practical, we will notify you and give you a chance to remedy the issue first. Sections 8 and 10–17 survive termination.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you — for example by email or in the app — before it takes effect. If you continue using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel your subscription.
17. Governing law and general terms
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes arising from them will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you additionally benefit from any mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and where that law gives you the right, you may bring proceedings in your local courts. If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms, together with the policies they reference, are the entire agreement between you and Relay about the Service.
